Solaro QR1: 1/4 Modular DSP Framework

A member of Xilica's new Solaro family of processors, the QR1 is all about modular I/O flexibility and powerful dual-core processing built into a compact chassis.

The Solaro QR1 (Quarter Rack) DSP may stand in the shadow of its Solaro FR1 big brother, small in size but equally powerful. The QR1 is compact, but the same Linux platform and dual-core processor drive this modular drag-and-drop configuration of the network processor and modular I/O architecture make the QR1 highly user-configurable. Eight modular card slots accept 2ch audio input and output cards as well as 4ch GPIO cards that can be selected as inputs or outputs. In addition, any card type in any card slot, in any combination, maximizes I/O flexibility, and the built-in 4×4 Dante card is a connectivity bonus.

The QR1 is based on the triple concept of drag-and-drop simplicity and the flexibility of modular I/O plug-in cards in a compact format. Thus, the QR1's drag-and-drop Xilica Designer software for PC and Mac is used to configure DSP functions and modular I/O card configurations as well as the QR1's programmable remote control.

The QR1's modular architecture provides eight user-configurable card slots that accept our I/O plug-in cards, and any card type (in any combination) can be placed in any of the card slots to maximize I/O flexibility. Currently available cards include 2ch analog input and output cards; 2ch AES/EBU digital audio input and output cards; and 4ch GPIO cards that can be selected as inputs or outputs. The 2ch Analog Mic/Line Input card provides a choice of mic/line and 48V phantom power for each input, and uses a premium mic preamplifier.

The included 4×4 Dante card is a connectivity bonus. 4×4 I/O channels for bi-directional transmission of Dante network audio over Ethernet. Dante and analog audio streams can be converted back to analog audio or Dante network audio using another Solaro Series processor, any Rio Series Dante interface or any Dante-enabled product brand.

The Solaro QR1 can be controlled in a variety of ways: via Ethernet using the included Xilica Designer software GUI; with GPIO card port; optional new XTouch50 and XTouch80 programmable touch controls; iOS and Android devices via our free XTouchApp; and any third-party controllers.

The powerful Solaro QR1 is the ideal DSP choice for teleconferencing solutions. The optional QR1-AEC model offers up to 8ch AEC microphone input @ 250ms / 16ch @ 100ms (softkey activated).

Audio performance is always important to Xilica. The QR1 is no exception, utilizing the same input, output and DSP processing architecture as the Solaro FR1 model, with a sample rate of 48kHz.

Solaro QR1's highly configurable modular design, powerful dual-core processor, built-in 4×4 Dante card, compact size and PoE capabilities make the QR1 suitable for rich applications and market value leaders in the commercial integration market.
